In conjunction with the re-opening of Douglas Museum on Saturday 2nd April, Douglas Heritage Society are hosting an evening talk at the St Brides Resource Centre
The speaker on this occasion will be Dr Callum Watson. Dr Watson graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a PhD thesis entitled ‘Attitudes Towards Chivalry in Barbour’s Bruce and Hary’s Wallace’, looking at knighthood in fourteenth- and fifteenth-century Scotland.
On the evening, Callum will, in a talk entitled,
‘Reiosand ws inwart to heir of Dowglas’: A ‘chivalric’ history of the Black Douglases
consider how the Douglas Family embraced the chivalric tradition in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries to promote their power.
The talk will take place on Wednesday 23rd March 2022 at the St Brides Centre, Braehead, Douglas and begins at 7.30pm.
