On Thursday 16th October six of our member organisations Biggar and Upper Clydesdale Museum, Carluke Parish Historical Society, Lanark Museum, Lanark and District Archaeological Society, Lanarkshire Family History society and Stonehouse Heritage group comprising 10 individual members underwent the first of a series of training events.
Training on Care of Paper and Photographs led by Helen Creasy from The Scottish Conservation Studio provided the attendees with an enthralling overview of the types of medium covered, issues and treats to collection and packaging and proper storage. The event finished with a practical workshop session covering the examination and discussion of the problematic areas of items brought in by Helen and from the attendees collections including a demonstration of surface cleaning paper artefacts.
